The international competition „Trailer Innovation“ promotes excellent ideas in the trailer industry. VDA Verband der Automobilindustrie supports the competition. (Exhausted: closing date for applications)

The award „Trailer Innovation 2013“ will be presented by the European transport magazines:

• Fleet Transport (Ireland)
• KFZ-Anzeiger (Germany)
• Trailer-Journal (Germany
• Straßengüterverkehr (Austria)
• strassenTRANSPORT und TRANSPORTroutier (Switzerland)
• Truck & Business (Belgium, Luxemburg)
• Truck auto.pl (Poland)
• Commercial Vehicle Engineer (Great Britain)
• Tranzit (Romania)

• At least two photos or drawings, also as a file (resolution 300 dpi).
• A contact person should be named.
• Optionally: An abstract (1 page maximum) in German and English describing basic idea, construction and benefits.

The main criterion for the nomination of a product is its contribution to the efficiency of the transport of goods by road. The product must incorporate significant technical improvements. A minor facelift does not make a product eligible. Innovations of a any kind and size can be registered in the categories concept, chassis, body, components or safety. Entry deadline is June 30, 2012. The product has to deal with trailers or bodies, not with trucks. The product can be a prototype or be produced in series, but no longer than two years. It must be displayed at the IAA Nutzfahrzeuge 2012 in Hannover. If the product wins a cup, it must be presented in a short film.

Producers of the trailers and parts as well as operators.

• The innovations must have a European origin and must be designed for the European market.
• At least one functioning prototype should exist.
• Members of the jury must have the chance to examine the product.

There are five categories

In case it is not clear, which category is relevant, the jury will make a decision. According to the categories there will be five prices (cups). Each participant will receive a ceritificate.

The entries will be distributed to every member of the jury. Each judge rates each product on a scale from 0 (worst) to 5 (best) points in the areas

• innovation
• safety
• economy
• ergonomics.

The product with the best score is the winner. In case of a tie the jury will perform a run-off vote.

• June 30, 2012 (incoming).
• Winners will be informed until end of August in order to give them a chance to promote their products properly.
  
• Award show: during the IAA Nutzfahrzeuge, September 21, in Hannover. After the show the participants are invited to have a glass of champagne.
